Gardners's Salve

Gardener's Salve

One salve that I make is called “Gardeners’ Salve”. It is for chapped and rough hands that gardeners often get. The ingredients were as follows:

4 oz. of olive oil
1 ½ oz. Of beeswax
1 ½ oz. Cocoa butter
½ oz. Essential oil

I melted the beeswax and cocoa butter together, and then took it off the stove. Next I put the olive oil in and some drops of patchouli, vitamin E, and orange oil. I poured the mixture into the salve bottles and labelled them. Originally, the recipe called for Lavender, but I am allergic to it, so I substituted. It would have been preferable to combined lemon oil with the patchouli, but the health food store didn’t have any, so I substituted orange oil.
